I haven't tested it but I'm pretty sure that the dynamic range of Vlog and HLG is exactly the same. you could compress the entire dynamic range to 8 bits if you wanted (not that it would grade nicely later). It is indeed 10bit but this is to store colour information in the file and has nothing to do with the dynamic range. It is useful to buy the vlog key to unlock the waveform monitor so you can use incident metering however the screen is tiny In practical terms the 150mbps codec of the G9 doesn’t have enough steam to really give vlog a significant edgeĬinelikeD on the other hand does not require luts and looks decent albeit warm out of the box and does manage pretty well highlights VLOG is different as it has the same middle grey and compresses the whole range so it gives you different results still requiring a LUT but at least you can monitor with a standard screen Peter Bak in Cam Profile for Sony Cameras V2. You would see some differences in the highlights if you kept it as HLG but if you conform it at the end is just a headache is harder to monitor and edit and ultimately not worth it Leeming LUT One Panasonic GH4 G7 CineD Setup (1) mzungo1972. If you straight up convert to Rec709, you'd be negating the entire point of capturing HLG in the first place. Leeming LUT Pro is the world's first unified, corrective Look Up Table ( LUT ) system for supported cameras, designed to maximise dynamic range, fix skin tones, remove unwanted colour casts and provide an accurate Rec709 starting point for further creative colour grading. It doesn’t capture any greater dynamic range because the camera readout in video is 10 bits not 12 and once you apply a LUT you compress it into a space that is limited to less than 10 stops anyway Keep in mind that LUT operations are destructive, so you should try to maintain the original colorspace for as long as possible in your processing chain and only bring it down to Rec709/sRGB as the final step. If you do not have Vlog then HLG is the next best thing you can use on your camera. Plus it looks much better in the viewfinder than cineLikeD. You can use a much better h265 codec to have smaller files and it is future proof for one day when we all have HDR TVs. It gives you a much wider colour gamut that allows more freedom in grading. A quick test of Leeming Lut One for Panasonic G7 + Panasonic 25mm 1. HLG captures a greater dynamic range and grades easily and beautifully (it is 10 bit!). It's always possible that Lumetri has a bug, though I haven't seen it on the Windows side (I don't use Macs).I don't fully understand why anyone would recommend using cineLikeD over HLG. So for my LUT, I recommend installing it in four places:Ĭ:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC 2015\Lumetri\LUTs\TechnicalĬ:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015\Lumetri\LUTs\TechnicalĬ:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CC 2015\Lumetri\LUTs\TechnicalĬ:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe SpeedGrade CC 2015\Lumetri\LUTs\TechnicalĪpplications - Adobe After Effects CC 2015 - (right-click on the app) - Show Package Contents - Contents - Lumetri - LUTs – TechnicalĪpplications - Adobe Premiere CC 2015 - (right-click on the app) - Show Package Contents - Contents - Lumetri - LUTs - TechnicalĪpplications - Adobe Media Encoder CC 2015 - (right-click on the app) - Show Package Contents - Contents - Lumetri - LUTs - TechnicalĪpplications - Adobe SpeedGrade CC 2015 - (right-click on the app) - Show Package Contents - Contents - Resources - Lumetri - LUTs - Technicalĭon't know if this is the problem but it's one thing to check. On OSX, El capitan, latest version of Adobe CC.One thing with exporting via Media Encoder is it wants to see the LUT in its own folder as well. It seems that the Lumetri plugin is buggy, but I wanted to check to see if anyone else is experiencing something like this? Sometimes it renders fine, other times not. Leeming LUT and Panasonics Free Rec709 LUT They do the best in my opinion. Everything looks fine in the timeline, but when I export or send to Media Encoder, then the final render is super dark for the clips with the LUT. In this free cinematic lut pack for the Canon, Fuji, Panasonic and Sony. Paul (and everyone else), I am having a problem when using the LUT within Lumetri.
